  The Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Rivers State Police Command, demanding a public apology for the assault on five journalists during a peaceful protest in Port Harcourt. Failure to comply, the union warned, would result in a statewide media blackout. In a statement jointly signed by Council Chairman Comrade Paul Bazia and Secretary Dr. Ijeoma Tubosia, the NUJ condemned the police actions as “unprovoked, barbaric, and inhuman,” calling for the immediate identification and prosecution of the officers involved. “The NUJ, as a watchdog of society, will not sit idly by while media practitioners are subjected to barbarism and brutality. Mr Governor, 


I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of your beloved father, Simon Soludo. Losing a parent is an immense loss, and I can only imagine the pain and sorrow you and your family are experiencing. Your father was undoubtedly a remarkable individual, and his legacy will continue to live on through the values and principles he instilled in you.


During this period of mourning, I hope you find solace in the memories you shared with your father. May his wisdom and love continue to guide you in your endeavours, providing you with strength and resilience. Please know that you are not alone in this journey of grief. Your friends and the people of Anambra South Senatorial District stand beside you, offering their support and prayers.  Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
