 Meta to end end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages Meta is ending end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages, a feature the company says will no longer be available after May 8, 2026. Unlike WhatsApp, Instagram never offered encryption to all users or as a default; only select users in certain regions could opt in on a per-chat basis. A Meta spokesperson explained that the decision comes due to low adoption. “Very few people were opting in to end-to-end encrypted messaging in DMs, so we’re removing this option from Instagram in the coming months,” the spokesperson said. “Anyone who wants to keep messaging with end-to-end encryption can easily do that on WhatsApp.” Meta’s messaging strategy has shifted multiple times over the years. WhatsApp chats have been encrypted since 2016, and the company began rolling out default encryption for Messenger in 2023. BENUE STATE UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL SLASHES CHILD DELIVERY COSTS TO N5,000

In a concerted effort to realize one of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s visionary goals and alleviate the discomfort associated with childbirth, the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, under the leadership of Dr. Terungwa Stephen Hwande, has significantly reduced the medical expenses for child delivery to just N5,000.

Additionally, the hospital has waived the fees for medical cards for pregnant women and children under the age of five at the Muhammadu Buhari Mother and Child Hospital, overseen by Chief Medical Director, Dr. Stephen Terungwa Hwande.

Dr. Hwande, in discussions with the press, explained that these initiatives are steps taken to enhance healthcare services throughout the state, benefiting all residents of Benue. He emphasized that the goal is to establish these hospitals as paragons of best practices in the healthcare sector.

Furthermore, the CMD expressed his dismay at the mismanagement tactics employed by the previous administration, which had severely impacted the BSUTH medical facility. He noted that Governor Alia’s administration, with a strong focus on citizen welfare, is fully dedicated to ensuring that the medical sector in Benue State not only meets global standards but also serves as a reference point for others to follow.

In conclusion, he reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to assisting Governor Hyacinth Alia in delivering on his campaign pledges to the people of Benue, particularly in his designated area of responsibility.
