NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable. We have been fully participating in all INEC activities without let or hindrance. NDC also fielded candidates, and fully pa...

Child molestation: Police arrest three, govt shuts Enugu school

The Enugu State Police Command has arrested three persons over the alleged sexual molestation of a three-year-old girl (names withheld) at Tenderlink School, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu State.

Police investigations showed that the young girl sustained physical injuries and blood stains were observed on her private part after the school bus dropped her at home on Tuesday, November 14.

The girl’s female teacher, the school’s bus attendant and the driver, have been arrested for interrogation.

This was disclosed by the state Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe in a statement issued on Friday, via the command’s handle on X.

Ndukwe stated, “The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department to thoroughly investigate and ensure the prosecution of everyone involved in the sexual molestation of a three-year-old female pupil of Tenderlink School, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu.

“A preliminary investigation proves that the child (names withheld) was found to have been sexually molested, with physical injuries and patches of blood observed on her private part, after the school’s bus dropped her at home on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.”

The PRO noted that “in addition to the receipt of similar complaints by parents of other children at the school,” the command had arrested “three suspects, comprising the victim’s female teacher, the school’s bus attendant and driver” for interrogation.

Ndukwe stated that the commissioner described the act as “unthinkable and wonders why the school’s authority and teachers will allow such to happen to the toddler they are supposed to tutor and protect from such an ungodly act.”

In addition, the state government has ordered the shutdown of the school pending the conclusion of the investigation, a decision which the state CP appreciates, “while vowing to ensure that everyone found culpable faces the full wrath of the law.”
