 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Denial of Hajj Seat After Payment: Kebbi Pilgrims Welfare Agency Warns Staff Against Act


The Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, has warned staff of the agencyto decits of fraudulent activities such as deniel of hajj seat to any person that paid for the hajj fair. 


The newly appointed Executive Chairman of the agency, Faruk Musa Inabo, gave the warning while addressing newmen at the agency's Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State. 


He lamented the situation where by a person will pay hajj fair in millions of naira at the local government Pilgrims office but later be denied of hajj seat and the money will not be repaid back to the person. 


The Executive Chairman, therefore warned that, any staff of the agency found engaging in such fraudulent activities should consider himself dismissed from the service. 


Musa Inabo, also called on the public and those intend to go for next years hajj exercise to pay their hajj fair within the next two weeks. 


According to him, the Saudí Arabian Ministry for Hajj, has made laws regarding the opening and closing of its Visa portal to intending pilgrims worid wide, three months before the commencement of hajj operations. 


The Executive Chairman announced that, the agency would soon commence registration, payment and airlift of lasser hajj operation for the benefit of the people of the state as the agency had obtained liecence to operate.
