 Death toll from Kenyan floods rises to 62, police say A total of 62 people including eight ​children have died since heavy rains ‌and flooding hit Kenya's capital Nairobi and other areas ​late last week, police ​said, Reuters reported. The capital ⁠was the worst hit ​with 33 deaths, the force ​said in a statement on X that updated the official tally ​of casualties. More than ​2,000 families have been displaced across ‌Kenya ⁠and intense rain was continuing in several regions, it added. Aid workers started pulling ​bodies ​from floodwaters ⁠across Nairobi last Saturday after overnight ​flash floods swept away ​dozens ⁠of cars and disrupted flights at East Africa's ⁠biggest ​airport. A tally issued ​last Sunday put the death toll ​at 42.

Edo man Abubakar Abdulrahman caught with fully loaded military pistol

Operatives of Edo State Police Command have recovered a fully loaded military service pistol from a 28-year-old man, Abubakar Abdulrahman at his residence in Bieneja Community, South-Ibie, Etsako West local government area of the State.
According to the Command’s Spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the suspect was arrested with the Para Pistol with breach No. TH10518 and 13 rounds of 9mm live ammunition on 5 November 2023.
According to him, detectives at the firearms section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), acted on credible intelligence, stormed the suspect’s residence, arrested and recovered the firearm from him.
“The suspect made a statement and confessed that he stole the pistol and its ammunition from the house of a retired Colonel from the Nigeria Army who is currently based in the United States of America on medical holiday.
“The suspect will soon be charged to court,” Nwabuzor said.
