 EFCC Arraigns Two Suspected Fraudsters for Impersonating Kano Oil Mogul The Kano Zonal Directorate of the  Economic and Financial Crimes Commission , EFCC, has arraigned the duo of Sulaiman Inuwa Zakiru and Aliyu Ahmed before Honourable Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu of the Kano State High Court on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretenses.   The defendants allegedly conspired to impersonate Alhaji A.A. Rano, a prominent oil mogul and owner of A.A. Rano Oil and Gas Limited and defrauded their victims  the sum of  N12,000,000 (Twelve Million Naira) for payment for an oil allocation purportedly issued by A.A. Rano Oil and Gas. The principal suspect, Sulaiman Inuwa Zakiru allegedly defrauded the petitioner  by claiming that A. A. Judiciary on path to destroy Nigeria – Aisha Yesufu reacts to sack Kano Gov by Appeal court

Aisha Yesufu, a human rights activist, has said the judiciary is on the path of destroying Nigeria’s democracy.

Yesufu was reacting to the Appeal Court ruling that sacked Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Recall that a three-man panel of judges led by Justice Oluyemi Akintan Osadebay had nullified the election of Yusuf.

The court declared the 165,663 votes of Yusuf invalid.

The appellate court said the votes were invalid because they were not signed or stamped by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Votes garnered by the governor who contested under the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, were then reduced to 853,939, while those of Nasir Ganuwa of the All Progressives Congress, APC remained at 890,705.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
