Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing. Oshoala, Nnadozie shortlisted as finalists for CAF award

Ahead of the 2023 CAF awards scheduled to be held in Marrakech, Morocco, on December 11, Super Falcons players – Asisat Oshoala and Chiamaka Nnadozie have been listed among the final ten nominees for the CAF women’s Player of the Year award.

The apex football body in Africa made this known on Monday via its X account.

Earlier, CAF announced the full list of nominees for the award comprising Nnadozie, Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade, Osinachi Ohale, Toni Payne and Christy Ucheibe.

Oshoala in 2022 beat Zambia’s Grace Chanda and Ajara Nchout Njoya of Cameroon to claim the CAF Women’s Player of the Year award for the fifth time.

Meanwhile, Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum, made it as the coach of the year while Deborah Abiodun and Esther Ajakaye made it as finalists for the Best Young Player of the Year.

The Super Falcons team also made it as finalist for the women’s national team of the year.
