 Carrick favourite for Man Utd caretaker role Michael Carrick has emerged as favourite to be appointed Manchester United caretaker head coach, according to sources close to the process. Club chiefs are hoping to have an appointment in place for when players return to training on Wednesday. While a final decision is yet to be reached, talks are said to have progressed with the 44-year-old over the position. Carrick previously had a three-game stint as United's temporary boss following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's dismissal in 2021. He won two and drew one of those matches but left after Ralf Rangnick's arrival as interim manager. Solskjaer held face-to-face discussions with the club on Saturday about a return. United sacked Ruben Amorim as manager after 14 months in the job on 5 January. Oshoala, Nnadozie shortlisted as finalists for CAF award

Ahead of the 2023 CAF awards scheduled to be held in Marrakech, Morocco, on December 11, Super Falcons players – Asisat Oshoala and Chiamaka Nnadozie have been listed among the final ten nominees for the CAF women’s Player of the Year award.

The apex football body in Africa made this known on Monday via its X account.

Earlier, CAF announced the full list of nominees for the award comprising Nnadozie, Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade, Osinachi Ohale, Toni Payne and Christy Ucheibe.

Oshoala in 2022 beat Zambia’s Grace Chanda and Ajara Nchout Njoya of Cameroon to claim the CAF Women’s Player of the Year award for the fifth time.

Meanwhile, Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum, made it as the coach of the year while Deborah Abiodun and Esther Ajakaye made it as finalists for the Best Young Player of the Year.

The Super Falcons team also made it as finalist for the women’s national team of the year.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
