 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Our dear esteemed readers, clients, business partners and well-wishers. This is to formally announce that the 2023 edition of PRIME EXCELLENCE RECOGNITION AWARDS, marking the 5th edition will come up on Sunday, the 10th of December. Venue is the prestigious and octane LAGOS AIRPORT HOTEL & SUITES, Obafemi Awolowo Way in Ikeja. Time is 2pm for red carpet while event starts proper at 3pm. As usual, our grand patron, His Imperial Majesty, Alayeluwa Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi would lead notable traditional rulers and cultural ambassadors to the event while our ever dependable and reliable mother, the Iyalaje Oodua Worldwide Princess Dr. Toyin Kolade, the Chief Executive Officer of Fisolak Global Resources who also doubles as the Patroness of PERA alongside His Royal Majesty Oba Dr. Amb. Olusegun Aderemi, the Atayero of Aramoko-Ekiti Kingdom in Ekiti State would also be on hand to represent our great Youruba culture as usual. 
Considering the fact that this is the 5th edition of this noble award event, the management and organizing committee of PERA, thoughtfully and thoroughly went through the achievements of our nominees, scrutinized their integrity and personality in the society, researched on their contributions to the wellbeing of humanity (a sort of their corporate social responsibilities (CSRs) and their impact on national economy. Though, the task was tough and somehow rigorous, we were able to come up with a list of distinguished personalities, democratically inclined government bodies and reputable corporate organizations. Winners of this year’s PERA awards cut across all facets of the Nigerian and global economic space and these include banking, business, manufacturing, real estate, oil and gas, entrepreneurship, entertainment and sports. Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are not also left out as we realized the vital needs of recognizing and appreciating their selfless service towards transforming the lives of the poor, the needy, widows, widowers, orphans, the frustrated, the homeless and the impoverished members of our larger society. 
As we are all aware that the year 2023 came with a lot of economic challenges with the most threatening being the cashless policy era as orchestrated by the former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and other issues, but the nation still find a way of escaping the ordeals. This is what prompted us at PERA to commend the gallant efforts of our winners for being able to weather the storms and came out unruffled, achieving their goals and aspirations during the year under review. As we are bidding goodbye to 2023, we decided to gather our distinguished winners and guests under the octane roof of the Lagos Airport Hotel in Ikeja to celebrate our awardees and felicitate with ourselves for witnessing the end of a somehow, tortuous year. For us at PERA, the celebration is worth its onion.
