 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. The National President Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Dr Abdullahi Bello Bodejo has advised fulani's in Niger state to continue to live in peace with one another and desist from taken the law into their hands by always allowing security agencies to do their job of fishing out culprits in a professional manner.

 This according to him is the best way of contributing their quota positively to the sustainance and promotion of lasting peace in the state and Nigeria.

He gave the advice while addressing Newsmen in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger state after visiting the twelve year old Namadi Mohammed at the General hospital Lapai whose hands were allegedly cut off by some vigilante members while rearing cattle few days ago.

Dr Abdullahi Bello Bodejo explained that Niger state Governor Alh Mohammed Umar Bago who is presently in Saudi Arabia with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on an official visit has informed the National President in a telephone interview that the state government will not allow perpetrators of such henious act to go unpunished.

According to him he will also involved his lawyers in getting justice for the tenager to serve as deterrent to others while calling for the scrapping of any vigilante organisation in Nigeria that is formed without following the due process. 

Alh Bello Bodejo who expressed disgust over way and manner fulani's are in most cases branded bandits and kidnappers in Nigeria however said plans have reached an advance stage by the Miyetti Allah Kautal Kore and Niger state government to organise summit towards changing such negative perception in addition to also involving traditional institutions in the crusade.

In his remarks Chairman Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners NARTO who also serve as fulani elder Alh Hassan Shiroro described the action by the vigilante as callous and called on security agencies to redouble efforts in fishing out perpetrators of this ungodly act.

Chairman Niger state chapter of Miyetti Allah Kautal Kore Alh Abubakar Shiroro commended the National President for his exemplary leadership and appealed to the fulani's in the state to be calm while security operatives take charge of this matter to it's logical conclusion.
