 Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Defies Kogi Government's Ban, Receives Heroic Welcome Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was given a rousing homecoming by her supporters and residents of the Ihima community in Kogi State, despite the state government's ban on rallies and processions. The celebration, which kicked off as early as 8 a.m., saw supporters from the five local government areas of Kogi Central gather at the Ihima community of Okehi Local Government Area to welcome the lawmaker. Local musicians entertained the crowd while they awaited Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan's arrival. The embattled Senator made a grand entrance, arriving in a white helicopter, which elicited cheers and applause from her supporters. This homecoming celebration comes on the heels of the Kogi State Government's ban on rallies and public gatherings due to security concerns. Sultan Directs Muslims To Look Out For New Moon Of Jumada Ula

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Saad Abubakar has directed the Muslims in the country to start looking for the new crescent of Jumada Ula 1445 AH, today the 13 of November 2023, equivalent to Islamic Calendar 29th of Rabi'ul Assani 1445 AH.

This was made known in a statement signed by the chairman advisory Committee on Religious Affairs Sultanate Council Sokoto, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu.

He said if sighted, the information should be reported to the nearest district or village head for onward communication to the Sultan

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
