Supreme court ruling path to Labour Party's peace and unity - Otti Abia State Governor Alex Otti has welcomed the Supreme Court's decision to remove Julius Abure as National Chairman of the Labour Party. According to Governor Otti, this ruling will usher in a new era of peace, unity, and order within the party. The Governor believes the Supreme Court's judgment vindicates the party's leadership, particularly since Abure's National Working Committee tenure had long expired. SUSPECTED PIRATES KILL 4 NSCDC OPERATIVES IN RIVERS

Gunmen suspected to be sea pirates operating along the Bakana River in the Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State have killed no fewer than four officers of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Whereas the details and circumstances of the encounter between the NSCDC operatives and the sea pirates are unclear as of the time of filing this report, recent reports by users of waterways in Rivers State indicated increased activities of attacks by deadly pirates.

It was gathered that the fully armed pirates frequently kidnapped passengers for ransom

They also hijacked goods, wares and boat engines from their owners on the waterways

Meanwhile, the identities of the four NSCDC officers killed by the gunmen have not been ascertained

But videos and photographs showing the dead civil defence corps officers inside a speed boat anchored by a riverside have reportedly been circulating in the state.

A source in the area said that two of the dead officers were Muslims. Hence, they have been buried according to Islamic rites

However, at the time of filing this report, the Rivers State Command of NSCDC and the Police Command in the state have not reacted to the incident, nor did their spokesperson answer calls made to them.
