Kansas driver’s license law puts some transgender residents in ID limbo A new Kansas law has effectively invalidated the driver’s licenses and other government-issued documents of transgender residents, leaving many in legal and personal limbo. Senate Bill 244, which went into effect immediately after the legislature overrode Gov. Laura Kelly’s veto, requires that the gender listed on a driver’s license align with the state’s binary definition of male and female. The law also directs the state registrar to “correct” birth certificates that do not match these definitions. Unlike similar restrictions in other states, Kansas’ law retroactively invalidates previously issued documents. Legal advocates warn that the law threatens the privacy and safety of transgender residents, forcing them to disclose their gender identity in situations ranging from employment applications to renting property or opening bank accounts. Troops Of 6 Brigade Nab Kidnappers, Rescue Victims In Taraba 


Troops of 6 Brigade Garrison, Nigerian Army on Anti kidnapping Patrol, have in a display of gallantry captured two (2) suspected kidnappers and successfully rescued the victims around CBN- BABAYA- U in Jalingo Local Government Area of Taraba State. 


This is contained in a statement signed and issued to newsmen by 2nd Lt. Ayodeji Abiodun, the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations,

6 Brigade Nigerian Army Jalingo.


This feat was achieved at the early hours of Sunday 26 November 2023,  when the troops acting on credible information conducted a rescue operation on terrorists hibernating and operating area in the state metropolis. 


The swift response of the troops and conduct of raid operation on the terrorist’s hideout led to the capture of Mr. Awwal Bobo, 32 and  Mr. Sallau Abdul, 33 as well as extrication and safe rescued of the victims named Mrs. Fauziyya Yusuf and Mr. Abdulsallam Abubakar.


In the process, two of the Kidnappers were arrested, while others absconded upon sighting the troops. Troops are on their trail and will soon be arrested.


One of the rescued Victims have since been reunited with his family, while the other is currently been offered necessary medical attention and support to ensure her physical and emotional well-being before been handed over to her family.


Meanwhile, the Commander, 6 Brigade  Nigerian Army Jalingo, Brigadier General Frank Etim has commended the timely response of the troops. 


He charged them not to relent in ensuring peace and safety of the citizens.   


He further enjoined the citizens to relentlessly cooperate and support the security agencies by providing timely security information to enhance troops’ prompt response to security issues.


Radio Nigeria gathered that there were no items recovered from the suspected kidnappers.
