The Edo State House of Assembly has removed Hon. Natasha Osawaru Irobosa of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from her position as Minority Leader, marking a significant shift in the chamber’s leadership structure. The announcement, made on Monday, is part of a broader restructuring triggered by recent political defections. Hon. Charity Aiguobarueghian, also of the PDP, was similarly stripped of her role as Majority Leader. Meanwhile, Hon. Yekini Idaiye, another PDP lawmaker, lost his position as Chief Whip. Despite the shake-up, PDP lawmakers Hon. Blessing Agbebaku and Hon. Maria Edeko have held onto their roles as Speaker and Deputy Speaker, respectively—for now. The changes stem from a letter submitted by Jarret Tenebe, acting chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, following the defection of four PDP lawmakers to the APC. Asake, Davido, Burna Boy, others make Obama’s favourite music of 2023 list

Former American President, Barack Obama has included four Nigerian songs in his favourite music of 2023 list.

The songs are ‘Unavailable’ by Davido featuring Musa Keys, ‘Amapiano’ by Asake featuring Olamide, ‘Me & U’ by Tems, and ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ by Burna Boy featuring 21 Savage.

South African singer, Tyla’s ‘Water’ was also included in the list released by the former US President on Friday.

The list featured music from around the world including Latino, pop, Afrobeats, Hip-hop, Grime, Reggaeton, Reggae, Dancehall, R&B, and Soul.

Sharing the list via his X handle, Obama wrote, “Here are some of my favourite songs from this year. Let me know if there are any artists or songs I should check out.”.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
