Alia’s car gift to Benue judiciary in order – Attorney General The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and Public Order of Benue State, Hon. Barr. Fidelis Mnyim has said the car gift to the judiciary by Governor Hyacinth Alia is a symbol of support and commitment as promised when he assumed office. Barr Mnyim was reacting to a query posed by Prof. Ernest Ojukwu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, in a tweet on Monday, 7th May 2024, challenging the viability of the autonomy granted to Benue State Judiciary if the State governor was still buying cars for them. MAGIC FM recalls that Governor Alia donated six (SUV) vehicles recently to the judiciary. The Professor had wondered why Governor Alia of Benue State should procure vehicles for the state’s judiciary when the funds allocated to the judiciary could be utilized for that purpose. The Attorney General of the State said that the procurement of vehicles for the judiciary constituted an additional benevolent gesture by the Governor.

Buhari Wasted Trillions In Security Votes, Now Northern elders Criticizing Tinubu – Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has lamented that former President Muhammadu Buhari and immediate past security chiefs wasted “trillions” of Naira on insecurity without result.

Sani said despite the failure of the past security chiefs who hailed from the North to curb the scourge in the region, Buhari kept extending their tenure while in office.

He made the remark while noting that the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, has the right to criticize President Bola Tinubu over the security situation in the region.

Posting on X, Sani wrote: “Northern Leaders have the constitutional right to criticize the President and hold him to account on the security situation in the North; but it’s too early to forget how all the key security and Defence positions in country were held by Northerners for eight years but failed to end the scourge of killings and kidnappings in the north. Trillions wasted with no result, and the then President kept extending their tenure in office.”

Recall that a military drone had mistakenly killed some villagers in Tudun Diri area of Kaduna State on Sunday while they were celebrating the Maulud festival.

Following the backlash that greeted the incident, the military had admitted that the mistake was due to an error in intelligence.

But, a chieftain of the NEF, Usman Yusuf, had said Tinubu’s words, deeds and body language have shown that he’s not interested in security.

He had said, “Our President and Commander-in-Chief, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, from his words, deeds, and body language, is not interested in security. All he’s interested in is the economy, where the money is, and he’s planted his people. Security, banditry, and others appear irritant to him.

“We don’t see the president hands-on with our security. Our military is not supervised by civilian authority; they’ve gone rogue, dropping bombs on our people, and they’re not answerable to anybody.”
