 President Trump awarded inaugural FIFA Peace Prize at World Cup draw in Washington  Gianni Infantino, the FIFA President presented the honour onstage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, saying Trump had been selected “in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world”. “This is your prize, this is your peace prize,” Infantino said, after Trump took the stage to accept the trophy, a medal and certificate. “There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.”   FIFA says the prize is for “individuals who help unite people in peace through unwavering commitment and special actions”.  Accepting the award, Trump called it “one of the great honours of my life”, before claiming to have “saved millions and millions of lives – the Congo is an example, over 10 million people killed and it was heading for another 10 million very quickly. DRC opens major financial centre built by Turkish firm


DRC has opened a major financial centre in the capital Kinshasa built by Turkish firm, Milvest.


In an effort to promote the country's economy, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has launched a major financial centre in the capital Kinshasa.


The Kinshasa Financial Center is strategically located in Gombe district, western DRC.


The construction of 11 buildings in a165,000-square metre area started in February 2022, and was completed in December 2023.


The design and construction of the modern building has been done by Turkish construction company Milvest, a subsidiary of Miller Holding.


Record time


The foundation stone was laid in June 2022. It has taken Turkish engineers one-and-a-half years to complete the major project.


At least 3,000 workers, including 1,500 Congolese and 1,500 Turks, have worked on the construction.


If it was one of the dreams of President Felix Tshisekedi to build DRC, and place it in a unique position globally, the dream has been achieved after opening the financial centre.


When the centre officially starts operations, 5,000 people are expected to work at the facility.
