 Rema Becomes First African Artist on Rolling Stone Cover Nigerian music star Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has made history as the first African artist to be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. The American publication, renowned for its coverage of music, politics, and pop culture, announced Rema as the cover star for its April 2025 edition. Mavin Records celebrated the achievement on Instagram, calling him the “Afrobeats Visionary.” Following the announcement, Rema delivered an electrifying performance at the Rolling Stone concert, thrilling audiences with hits like Dumebi, Woman, and Calm Down. This milestone further solidifies Rema’s influence in global music, coming shortly after his feature on Dazed magazine. DRC opens major financial centre built by Turkish firm


DRC has opened a major financial centre in the capital Kinshasa built by Turkish firm, Milvest.


In an effort to promote the country's economy, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has launched a major financial centre in the capital Kinshasa.


The Kinshasa Financial Center is strategically located in Gombe district, western DRC.


The construction of 11 buildings in a165,000-square metre area started in February 2022, and was completed in December 2023.


The design and construction of the modern building has been done by Turkish construction company Milvest, a subsidiary of Miller Holding.


Record time


The foundation stone was laid in June 2022. It has taken Turkish engineers one-and-a-half years to complete the major project.


At least 3,000 workers, including 1,500 Congolese and 1,500 Turks, have worked on the construction.


If it was one of the dreams of President Felix Tshisekedi to build DRC, and place it in a unique position globally, the dream has been achieved after opening the financial centre.


When the centre officially starts operations, 5,000 people are expected to work at the facility.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
