Ex-Anambra governor, Ezeife dies at 85

Former Anambra State Governor, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife is dead.

The elder statesman, according to an e-signed statement by Chief Rob Nwakaire Ezeife (Ahaejiejemba Igbo-Ukwu), on behalf of the Ezeife Dynasty of Igbo-Ukwu, Anambra State, said he died at about 6pm at the Federal Medical Centre, Abuja, on Thursday.

He was born on November 20, 1938.

A former federal permanent secretary, Ezeife was elected executive governor of Anambra State on the platform of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the aborted third republic and he served from January 1992 to November 1993.

A political actor of the progressive hue, Ezeife was a presidential aspirant and also political adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo.

This sad event took place yesterday at 6pm at the Federal Medical Centre, Abuja. More details about the deceased and the arrangements for his State Burial will be announced later.”
