 LASG ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY AHEAD OF FANTI CARNIVAL The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and restrictions ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled to hold on Monday, 6th April, 2026, around Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island. In a bid to ensure a seamless and hitch-free carnival procession, vehicular movement will be restricted along major adjoining roads linking TBS. Affected Routes are; King George V Road (by Mobil Filling Station), Flag House inbound TBS, Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS, and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House. Additionally, all link roads to Moloney Road, such as Military Road (by Old Defence Building), Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street, will be closed to traffic during the event. Lagos Dislodges Street Traders, Clears Shanties 

Officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps and the state's Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences have dislodged street traders operating on drainage setbacks and razed down shanties in different areas of the state. 

The spokesperson for the state's Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Kunle Adeshina, dislcosed this in photos shared on his X handle on Thursday. 

Adeshina wrote, "Acting on directives of HC MOE&WR, Tokunbo Wahab, operatives of LAGESC/KAI recently dislodged illegal street traders displaying wares on walkway and drainage setbacks at Toyin street lkeja and Medical Junction along Airport Way, Ikeja in contravention of state sanitation laws." 

In a separate post, Adeshina wrote, "Acting on the directives of HC MOE&WR, Tokunbo Wahab, operatives of the Lagos Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences, Thursday cleared  shanties at the Toll gate area of Victoria Island."

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive. We have approached Turkey for assistance.” The President, however, stated that the delays were affecting the public’s perception of the administration’s commitment to addressing the security challenges.
