  NBC bans Eedris Abdulkareem’s protest song ‘Tell Your Papa’ from radio, TV The National Broadcasting Commission has barred Nigerian radio and television stations from airing the trending song “Tell Your Papa” by veteran rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem, citing its “objectionable nature.” In a memo dated April 9, 2025 and issued by the Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring, Susan Obi, the commission declared the track Not To Be Broadcast (NTBB) under Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code. This section prohibits content deemed inappropriate, offensive, or in breach of public decency from being aired on Nigerian broadcast platforms. According to the NBC, while the song has gained momentum across social media platforms, its lyrical content fails to meet the standards of responsible broadcasting. Lagos Dislodges Street Traders, Clears Shanties 

Officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps and the state's Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences have dislodged street traders operating on drainage setbacks and razed down shanties in different areas of the state. 

The spokesperson for the state's Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Kunle Adeshina, dislcosed this in photos shared on his X handle on Thursday. 

Adeshina wrote, "Acting on directives of HC MOE&WR, Tokunbo Wahab, operatives of LAGESC/KAI recently dislodged illegal street traders displaying wares on walkway and drainage setbacks at Toyin street lkeja and Medical Junction along Airport Way, Ikeja in contravention of state sanitation laws." 

In a separate post, Adeshina wrote, "Acting on the directives of HC MOE&WR, Tokunbo Wahab, operatives of the Lagos Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences, Thursday cleared  shanties at the Toll gate area of Victoria Island."

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
