 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. LAGOS NSCDC DECORATES 790 NEWLY PROMOTED OFFICERS, AWARDS OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE, CONDUCTS SPECIAL THANKSGIVING AND PRAYERS FOR YEAR 2024.


"Justify your new rank, with more professional, operational and administrative results for the service and keep the flag flying," Alfadarai said.


The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, held its decoration ceremony for new promotees, who recently enjoyed, elevation to their new and enviable ranks, earlier today, Thursday, 28th December, 2023, at the Pavilion, of the State Command's Headquarters, in Alahusa, Ikeja.

The decoration of promotees was also combined, with awards, thanksgiving and special prayers, offered to God, by the Chaplain and the Imam on behalf of the command.

As a result of the unprecedented, 2023 promotion results recently released, by the Civil Defence Corrections Fire and Immigration Services Board ( CDCFIB ), a total of seven hundred and ninety ( 790 ) senior officers enjoyed, promotion to their new ranks varying, from the following categories; three ( 3) Assistant Commandants of Corps moved to Deputy Commandans of Corps and twenty  six ( 26 ) Chief Superintendents of Corps were promoted to Assistant Commandants of Corps. 

Other categories include; eighteen ( 18  ) Superintendents of Corps moved to Chief Superintendents of Corps, one hundred and twenty four ( 124 ) Deputy Superintendents of Corps moved to Superintendents of Corps (SC), two hundred and  fourteen ( 214 ) Assistant Superintendents of Corps I moved to Deputy Superintendents of Corps, two hundred and ninety nine ( 299 ) Assistant Superintendents of Corps II moved to Assistant Superintendents of Corps I and one hundred and six ( 106 ) Inspectors of Corps moved to Assistant Superintendents of Corps II.

The State Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Commandant of Corps Usman Alfadarai, Mfr, fdc, mnim, mpa, fisn, fcss, who delivered, his opening address, at the ceremonious event, expressed, his profound gratitude to the widely revered, excellent and distinguished Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji - Ojo and the Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), CG Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, mni, dfisn, OFR and his entire top management, for keeping to their promises, of totally, stamping out career stagnation and the improvement of personnel welfare and rewards system in our dear service.

The Lagos State Commandant also extolled, the aforementioned, Board, for deeming it fit to, recognize and reward hardwork, professionalism, discipline and dedication to service, by ensuring the unprecedented, elevation of officers, who have distinguished, themselves after they had partaken, in the last  promotion examinations in Lagos State Command.

In the light of extolling the welfare package of the Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, "I am extremely happy to express my unstoppable joy and happiness, on behalf of the Command and officers, who got promotion from their old to their new, enviable and well deserved ranks," Alfadarai said.

Alfadarai, also emphatically, advised, the promotees not to see promotion as an advantage to intimidate their colleagues or a reason to undermine the professional ethics and  practice, of our highly revered and esteemed service but however, they  are expected to justify their new ranks, with professional, operational and administrative performances and results, be good ambassadors and keep the flag of the Corps flying.

The following awards were also presented to officers and men of the Command in this order below; Management Officer of the year, Assistant Commandant of Corps Adenike Komaya, Formation Officer of the year, Superintendent of Corps Oghobome Voki John, Dedicated officer of the year, Chief Superintendent of Corps Ayoola Falade, Gallant Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Corps II Babatunde Gbadegesin, Disciplined Officer, Corps Assistant III Abionat Toybat, Outstanding Officer, Assistant Commandant of Corps  Kalejaye Olushola and Special Commandant's Award for performance went to Superintendent of Corps Aliyu Jamilu, who was honoured twice amongst many others, who were also awarded, for their commitment to service.

The management and staff of the command led, by the 2ic to the State Commandant, Deputy Commandant of Corps Eunice Agboola also awarded, the Lagos State Commandant, who was honoured, twice, for his excellent leadership and performance in all ramifications in the command.

The event also featured, good will messages from other sister agencies and invited dignitaries.

Present at the event also was the Garrison Commander, 81 Division, Brigadier General Musa Sadiq, The representative of the 9 Brigade Commander, Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel I. Galadima, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos State Command, Corps Commander Babatunde Farinloye, Commandant of Narcotic , National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Lagos State Command, Abubakar Wali, Assistant Commissioner of Police Idowu Olanrewaju, Area F Commander, who represented, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade, mni and the Chairperson of Civil Defence Officers' Wives Association ( CIDOWA ), NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Mrs Amina Usman Alfadarai, the amiable wife of the Lagos State Commandant and members of CIDOWA. Other services present include; Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Correctional Service, Federal Road Safety Corps, Economic Financial Crimes Commission, Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission, National Identity Management Commission, National Youth Service Corps, Galaxy Backbone and others . 

Nevertheless, on behalf of the management and staff of the Command, the Lagos State Commandant also sincerely thanked, all security chiefs, from various sister agencies, their representatives, distinguished invited guests, senior officers, families and friends of the service, who made this year's decoration ceremony, awards and special prayers a colourful one.
