 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision. MAYOR OF STANFORD, KENTUCKY ISSUES A STATE OF EMERGENCY CITING CRITICALLY LOW WATER LEVELS. (PHOTO).

Mayor of Stanford, Kentucky issues a State of Emergency citing critically low water levels.

Stanford Mayor, Dalton Miller, declared a State of Emergency that began yesterday at 3 p.m. on Wednesday December 27th.

Miller says their water reservoir levels are critically low due to drought conditions and their water supply being consistently below seasonal averages.

The city is asking residents to do all they can to conserve water, such as washing clothes only once a week, limiting showers to 5 minutes and other common sense ways to conserve.
