 NAFDAC Reopens Onitsha Drug Market After Month-Long Closure The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has reopened the Onitsha Head Bridge drug market, popularly known as 'Ogbo Ogwu', after a month-long closure for sanitization and regulatory enforcement. The market was shut down as part of NAFDAC's nationwide clampdown on fake and substandard medicines. To prevent a recurrence of the issues that led to the closure, NAFDAC has implemented strict administrative conditions for reopening. Shop owners are required to complete documentation and clearance procedures before their shops can be unsealed. A dedicated NAFDAC desk has been established to facilitate the process efficiently, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.Ā² According to NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, only shops that meet the conditions will be allowed to resume operations. Minister Of Women Affairs Orders Arrest Of Uyo Lawyer For Assaulting Wife
 
The Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Ohanenye has ordered the arrest of an Uyo-based lawyer known as Mr Ebong for assaulting his wife in a viral video.

Mr Ebong was seen in the video standing over his bloodied wife who was in her underwear, while several people intervened stopping him from beating her.

A bystander also accused the man of beating his wife for more than four years

Reacting to the horrible scene on Sunday via a post on X, the minister wrote that the ā€œFederal Ministry of Women Affairs Nigeria has ordered the arrest of this demonized lawyer Mr Ebong, who must face the law squally and I promise this act can not be swept under the carpet.ā€

Hon.Ohanenye insisted the lawyer would face the law irrespective of the wifeā€™s refusal to push for prosecution.

ā€œEven if the woman decides she doesnā€™t want her husband to be sued, due to family pressure. the man must face the law as justice will have its way.ā€ 

She also reiterated the Ministryā€™s commitment to ending gender-based violence in the country

ā€œThis remains one of the most insane and unbelievable scenes one has seen in the brutalization of women.ā€ 

ā€œAs I have always emphasised, this is a ā€˜Renewed Hopeā€™ government and such an act can not be allowed in our country."
