 Ghana orders foreigners to exit gold market by April 30 Ghana has ordered foreigners to exit its gold trading market by the end of the month, a new government body said, as the West African country looks to streamline gold purchases from small-scale miners, increase earnings and reduce smuggling, Reuters reported. Africa's leading gold producer is shifting away from a system in which local and foreign companies with export licenses can buy and export gold from artisanal or small-scale mining. Under the new system, the newly created gold board known as GoldBod is the only entity allowed to buy, sell, assay and export artisanal gold, Monday's statement said, and older licenses have ceased to be valid. Foreigners must leave the local gold trading market by April 30 although they can apply "to buy or take-off gold directly from the GoldBod," the statement said.  NUC APPROVES TAKE OFF OF NEW NIGER STATE UNIVERSITY. 



The National Universities Commission NUC has approved the take off of the new EngineerAbdulkadir Kure University in Minna Niger state.


The university will  start with forty forty one fulltime courses in four faculties of the Niger state University of Education that has been renamed after former Governor Engineer Abdulkadir Kure University for the twenty twenty three twenty twenty four academic session.


Chairman Implementation Committee of the University Professor Mohammed Kuta Yahaya stated this while addressing Newsmen in Minna.


Professor Mohammed Kuta Yahaya explained that among the four faculties approved by NUC are that of education, Science and education, Vocational and Technical education as well as the one of Arts and Social Sciences education.


 He said with the massive support received from Niger state Governor Mohammed Umar Bago and the setting aside of twenty billion naira in next years budget for the take of the university there is no doubt that it would take off soon.


According to Chairman Implementation Committee their yardstick achievement is to see the listing of Niger state University of Education Minna in the twenty twenty four twenty twenty five academic brochure of JAMB which he said has been approved by the Board  while the listing of the university had provided guidance on how to obtain clearance form NUC.


Professor Kuta Yahaya also applauded the doggedness of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago efforts of approaching the NUC to revalidate the Niger state University which is the sixty third university in Nigeria to Engineer Abdulkadir Kure University in addition to his unrelenting vigour of creating partnerships between them the national and international stakeholders to fastrack it's speedy and successful take off.


On the readiness of the committee for successful take off he said they have gone far making necessary arrangements including the provision of male and female hostels e library, offices for Dean and Head of Departments and an ict centre among others.


Professor Kuta Yahaya also caution the public against fallen into the trap of fraudsters as any announcements must come from the committee to ensure its authenticity.
