 PDP: Defection of Delta gov, others unfortunate –Damagum •Says 2027 contest between Tinubu and Nigerians Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) acting national chairman, Umar Damagum, has described the defection of the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori and top members of the opposition party in the state to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as unfortunate. Damagum, who stated this at the presentation of Certificate of Return to the PDP candidate for the November 8 Anambra State governorship poll, Jude Ezenwafor, said the party least expected that leaders of the Delta PDP would defect to the ruling party. Senator James Manager, had after a meeting in Government House, Asaba, reportedly announced the defection of Oborevwori and leaders of the Delta PDP to the APC. Top shots, who defected alongside the governor, include his predecessor and PDP 2023 vice presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa. PRESIDENT TINUBU CONGRATULATES PROFESSOR IJEOMA UCHEGBU ON HER ELECTION AS CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE PRESIDENT 



President Bola Tinubu congratulates Nigerian-born Professor of Pharmaceutical Nanoscience and top-flight researcher, Ijeoma Uchegbu, on her election as President of Wolfson College, one of the 31 colleges of the University of Cambridge.


Professor Uchegbu, renowned for her innovative work in nanoparticle drug delivery, is currently a Professor of Pharmaceutical Nanoscience at University College London (UCL). 


President Tinubu celebrates the outstanding accomplishment and commends Professor Uchegbu for being an excellent ambassador for the country and for her relentless efforts to advance the frontiers of pharmaceutical science. 


The President applauds Professor Uchegbu as epitomizing the ingenuity, brilliance, and hard work that are consistently synonymous with the great Nigerian people both at home and abroad.


While wishing the Nigerian-born Professor more success as she takes on this important role, President Tinubu assures Nigerians in the Diaspora that his administration remains committed to building a robust interface mechanism that harnesses ideas, promotes investment opportunities, and strengthens bonds, in line with his '4D Foreign Policy'.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. The Appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,” he said.
