  A manhunt is underway for man who shot a Granite City Police Officer multiple times. Officers in Granite City, Illinois, responded to a call regarding a unwanted subject near the 2000 block of Johnson Road at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, December 5th. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with the suspect. The suspect opened fire on officers before fleeing the scene.  Unfortunately, one officer was struck multiple times. The officer was rushed to a St. Louis University Hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.  A massive manhunt is now underway to locate the suspect. Authorities warn the public that the man is considered armed and dangerous. Sultan Directs Muslims To Look Out For New Moon 


 Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar has directed Muslims in the country to start looking for the new crescent of Jumada Thani 1445 AH, from tomorrow Wednesday the 13 of December 2023, equivalent to Islamic  Calendar 29th of Jumada Ula 1445 AH.


This was made known in a statement signed by the chairman advisory Committee on Religious Affairs Sultanate Council Sokoto ,Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu 


He said if sighted, the information should be reported to the nearest district or village head for onward communication to the Sultan
