  A manhunt is underway for man who shot a Granite City Police Officer multiple times. Officers in Granite City, Illinois, responded to a call regarding a unwanted subject near the 2000 block of Johnson Road at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, December 5th. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with the suspect. The suspect opened fire on officers before fleeing the scene.  Unfortunately, one officer was struck multiple times. The officer was rushed to a St. Louis University Hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.  A massive manhunt is now underway to locate the suspect. Authorities warn the public that the man is considered armed and dangerous. UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT PROMOTES 43 TO RANK OF PROFESSOR, 22 TO RANK OF READER


43 senior academics of the University of Port Harcourt are now promoted to the rank of professor.

They were considered suited to benefit from the new round of promotion in the institution.

A notice made public by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Dr. Samuel Kpenu, said 22 other senior academics were promoted to the rank of associate professor (readers).

It stated that the promotion was sequel to the approval by the Minister of Education on Friday, December 8, 2023.

There has been an earlier meeting of the Central A&PC Academic of the University of Port Harcourt on Thursday, November 23, 2023, where the newly promoted academics were recommended.

A breakdown of the promotion showed that the Faculty of Science got ten new professors, Faculty of Education got ten new professors, Faculty of CHS got eight new professors, Faculty of Humanities got seven new professors, while the Faculty of Agriculture got three new professors. 

The Faculty of Social Science got one, Faculty of Engineering got one, Faculty of Management got one, and the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies got one.
