 NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable. UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT PROMOTES 43 TO RANK OF PROFESSOR, 22 TO RANK OF READER


43 senior academics of the University of Port Harcourt are now promoted to the rank of professor.

They were considered suited to benefit from the new round of promotion in the institution.

A notice made public by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Dr. Samuel Kpenu, said 22 other senior academics were promoted to the rank of associate professor (readers).

It stated that the promotion was sequel to the approval by the Minister of Education on Friday, December 8, 2023.

There has been an earlier meeting of the Central A&PC Academic of the University of Port Harcourt on Thursday, November 23, 2023, where the newly promoted academics were recommended.

A breakdown of the promotion showed that the Faculty of Science got ten new professors, Faculty of Education got ten new professors, Faculty of CHS got eight new professors, Faculty of Humanities got seven new professors, while the Faculty of Agriculture got three new professors. 

The Faculty of Social Science got one, Faculty of Engineering got one, Faculty of Management got one, and the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies got one.
