 "Worth It" — Woman Pleads Guilty to Fatally Shooting 11-Month-Old Son to Keep Him From Father Madeline Veronique Daly, 36, pleaded guilty this week in Silver City, New Mexico, to first-degree murder in the December 23, 2025 killing of her 11-month-old son, Basil Stoner. Grant County deputies had tracked her to an RV off Highway 15 on a Wyoming kidnapping warrant after she took the baby during a custody dispute with his father, Jake Stoner. While officers waited for a warrant and tried to negotiate, Daly put a 9mm handgun to the boy’s face and fired. According to the criminal complaint, Daly told investigators her thought when she saw law enforcement approach was: “Jake can’t get Basil.” After her arrest she said it was “worth it” if Basil’s father and his family never got him. YULETIDE: NSCDC DEPLOYS 1500 PERSONNEL IN NIGER STATE TO PROVIDE A WATERTIDE SECURITY.



The Niger state Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC says it has deployed one thousand five hundred personnel across it's formations in the twenty five Local Government Area’s to tighten and beefs up security before, during and after the Christmas and New Year celebrations.


State Commandant, Dr Elijah Etim Willie stated this while addressing officers and Men of the Command in Minna Niger state.


Commandant Dr Elijah Etim Willie stressed the need for officers and men of the Niger state Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp to be more vigilant considering the current security situation in the State.


He however, reminded the personnel  of the need to protect critical national assets and infrastructure with due diligent and called on  officers deployed to exhibit high sense of professionalism while discharging their duties.


The Commandant also directed for the immediate deployment of personnel to worship centers, parks and all entries points to the capital City of the state to ensure a hitch free celebrations.


Dr Ellijah Etim Willie urged Christian’s faithful to use thie Christmas period to pray for the country while calling on the general public to remain calm, law abiding and report any suspicious movement capable of causing unrest to the nearest security outpost for necessary action.
