 Alleged Defilement: Ogun Drops Charges Against School Proprietor, Cites Lack of Evidence …decries social media incitement against the accused, govt The Ogun State Government has decided not to press charges against the proprietor of Perfect Life School, Igode-Remo, Mr. Ashafa Samson Adelaja, over allegations of defilement. According to the state Ministry of Justice, following its findings after a thorough investigation of the allegations against Adelaja, the State Government, on Thursday, informed the Chief Magistrate sitting in the Sagamu Magisterial District that it would not be bringing any charges against him. Accordingly, Mr. Ashafa was unconditionally released from prison custody, according to a statement issued by the ministry. According to the emergency responders, the teenage girl hid the baby inside a packet after giving birth and threw the baby down the abandoned pit latrine in the iLembe District.

 “Reports from the scene indicate that a 16-year-old female allegedly concealed the birth of a baby and disposed of it in a 2-metre-deep abandoned pit latrine in a neighbour’s yard after placing it in a plastic packet,” IPSS Rescue says. 


“The packet containing the newborn’s body was successfully retrieved from the pit latrine,” 


According to the Maphumulo Local Municipality, the area is predominantly rural. 


The police recovered the baby’s body as part of their investigation and arrested the teenager and her mother. 

Spokesperson of the South African Police Service (SAPS) officials in Maphumulo, KZN, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, who confirmed the incident on Saturday, said they are investigating a case of concealment of birth.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha.
