 M23 says hundreds of Burundi soldiers captured in latest Congo offensive The Rwanda-backed M23 group has captured hundreds of Burundian soldiers during its latest offensive in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a rebel official said, as clashes continued despite a warning from the Trump administration. Last week M23 entered the strategic town of Uvira near the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Rwanda's actions in eastern Congo violated the Washington Accords and vowed to "take action to ensure promises made to the President are kept". Rwanda denies supporting M23 and has blamed Congolese and Burundian forces for the renewed fighting. AFCON 2023: Super Eagles ready to fight for title – Iwobi

Alex Iwobi has vowed the Super Eagles will go for the ultimate prize at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles are among the 24 teams that will compete for honours in Cote d’Ivoire.
The West Africans have won the title three times in the past.
They last tasted success in the competition in South Africa in 2013.
“The fans know the quality we have in the team, from each man that is in the squad and the ones that didn’t make the squad, there is a lot of talents in the squad,” the Fulham star told the Super Eagles media.
“We have confidence we can go far in this competition, but we have to prove it and assure the fans that we can prove ourselves. They can be sure we will make the nation proud.”
Iwobi also commented on the team’s preparations for the AFCON.
“Preparation has been good, we are in Abu Dhabi right now. We have got some friendlies to warm up before the AFCON, “added the former Arsenal player.
“Everyone is almost complete here, the squad is almost complete and we are also training well.”
