 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. WOMEN AFFAIRS COMMISSIONER, OBINABO SUMMONS WIDOWS BROTHER IN LAW OVER ENCROACHMENT INTO THE PROPERTY OF THE LATE BROTHER

Anambra State Women and Social Welfare Commissioner, Hon Ify Obinabo has summoned one Mr Innocent Okechi a native of Awkuzu in Oyi local government area of the state over encroachment of late brothers property.


The report which was made by wife of the deceased Mrs Onyinye Ogugua stated that barely one month after her mourning period, her late husband's brought Mr Okechi vowed to deal with her until she leaves the compound.


According to the widow, she and her son has been suffering silently from the hands of her brother inlaw but with the recent event can't take it anymore.


When asked what the event is, Mrs Ogugua explained that the brother Inlaw has refused to share any landed property to her son and also is currently erecting structure on her entrance space thereby inconveniencing her and her son from entering their compound.


The widow further urged government to come to her aid and restore a lasting peace especially as it concerns her son's well-being.


Responding, Hon Obinabo assured that she will get to the root of the issue which she took a step forward by inviting the said brother inlaw.


The Women Affairs boss therefore reminded everyone to always give peace a chance and protect the vulnerable women around them.


As at the time of this report, Mr Innocent has been invited for a meeting with the commissioner over the Complaint brought before the Honourable Commissioner while investigation is going on.
