 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Four Dead, Dozen Injured In Indonesia Train Collision


Four people have been reportedly killed and many others injured after two trains carrying hundreds of passengers collided in Indonesia on Friday.


The crash between an intra-city train carrying 287 passengers and a local line with 191 onboard took place at 6:03 am local time, 1103 GMT, near Cicalengka.


An Indonesia Railway company known as (KAI), disclosed this on its official X handle (Formerly Twitter) on Friday.


The caption titled "Train accidents on the Haurpugur-Cicalengka (Bandung) route" read, "All train passengers who had an accident survived.


"22 passengers were injured and were receiving treatment at the nearest hospital.


"KAI is deeply saddened and expresses condolences for the death of four train officers, consisting of: Engineer, Assistant Engineer, Steward, and Security, as a result of the Train Accident."


In November 2023, a collision between a train and a minibus at a level crossing in Lumajang, East Java province, claimed at least 11 lives and injured several others.


In 2015, 16 people were killed after a commuter train crashed into a minibus on a level crossing in the capital Jakarta.


In 2013, seven people were killed and scores more injured when a commuter train collided with a fuel tanker in Jakarta and burst into flames.
