 Seven dead as truck crashes into vehicles on Lagos-Ibadan expressway The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has said seven persons lost their lives while four others were injured when a truck lost control and crashed into two other vehicles along the Lagos/ Ibadan expressway on Saturday morning Ogun State Sector’s Route Commander and Chief Public Education Officer of the FRSC, Florence Okupe, confirmed the ghastly accident in a statement in Abeokuta, the state capital. According to the statement, a total of 15 people comprising 13 male adults and two females were involved in the accident. The statement indicated that those injured were three male adults and one female adult while the six male adults and one female adults lost their lives. “I defile minors because no confidence to approach mature ladies’ – Suspect

A suspected rapist, Abubakar Yakubu, who allegedly defiled two minors in Limawa area of Minna, Niger State capital, has disclosed that he committed the act due to lack of confidence to approach mature ladies.

The suspect, aged 30, of Limawa area of Minna assaulted little girls within the ages of six and eight years

Parading the suspect at the Niger State Police headquarters in Minna, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Damamman said the suspect lures his victims with a token of fifty or hundred Naira.

According to him, “On 2/1/2024 at about 1700hrs, based on information received, the Crack Squad arrested one Abubakar Yakubu, 30yrs, of Limawa area of Minna, suspected of assaulting minor girls within the community sexually”.

He explained that, “during preliminary investigation, the suspect narrated that he was a tricycle rider and that he had been having carnal knowledge of two minor girls within the community.

“He also confessed that he usually lured the little girls into his house with a token of fifty naira or one hundred naira since last year.

“He mentioned two other girls he attempted to have the same act with, including one of his relatives whom he has been trying to defile.”

Damamman added that the girls were taken for medical attention and were undergoing counseling with relevant government agencies.

The suspect is under investigation and he will be arraigned in court as soon as possible.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
