  President Bola Tinubu has identified the creative economy as a pivotal element of his administration’s economic diversification agenda, reaffirming his commitment to positioning Nigeria’s creative sector as a driving force for global influence. The President stated this at the launch of the 2024 Abuja International Carnival at Eagle Square, Abuja. President Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, said the carnival reaffirms the essence of who Nigerians are—”a people of culture, a people of art, a people of colour, and a people of shared values”. IGP DECORATES NEWLY PROMOTED SENIOR POLICE OFFICERS; ORDERS POSTING, DEPLOYMENT OF AIGs, CPs


The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, on Tuesday 30th January, 2024 at the Goodluck Jonathan International Peacekeeping Centre, Force Headquarters, Abuja, decorated thirty-five (35) Senior Police Officers comprising fourteen (14) Assistant Inspector Generals of Police and twenty-one (21) Commissioners of Police with their new ranks amidst cheers from families, friends, and well-wishers. The newly decorated officers include AIGs Yetunde Longe; Haruna Gabriel Garba; Tajudeen Akinwale Abass, Julius Alawiri Okoro; George Chijioke Chuku; and CPs Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo; Mohammed Dahiru; Dankombo Faling Morris; and David Iloyanomon amongst others.


Similarly, the IGP has ordered the posting and redeployment of seventeen (17) AIGs and eighteen (18) CPs with immediate effect. The affected AIGs include AIG Yetunde O. Longe to AIG Training; AIG Haruna Gabriel Garba to AIG Armament; AIG Rex Dundun to AIG FCID Annex Kaduna; AIG Durosinmi A. Olatoye to AIG Zone 2 Lagos; AIG Afolabi Babatunde Adeniyi to AIG Zone 3; AIG Abiodun Oladimeji Asabi to AIG Zone 12 Bauchi; AIG George Chijioke Chuku to AIG Zone 17 Akure; AIG Paul Alifa Omata to AIG Zone 16 Yenagoa, and AIG Yusuf Adesina Akeem, fdc, to AIG Zone 8 Lokoja.


The newly posted/redeployed Commissioners of Police include CP Patrick Atayero to CP EOD; CP Illiyasu Yahaya Kwarbai to CP Admin Airwing; CP Bello Mohammed Sani to CP Force Provost Marshal; CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh to CP Eastern Port; CP Rose Chollom Dung to CP Welfare; and CP Olarenwaju Ogunlowo to CP Special Intervention Squad.


The Inspector General of Police, while congratulating the newly decorated senior officers on their well-deserved promotions, emphasizes the imperative for the newly posted and redeployed AIGs and CPs to bring their wealth of experience to bear in their respective assignments. The IGP expresses confidence that their ardent impact would boost the endeavor for excellence in the discharge of police constitutional responsibilities.
