 PRESS RELEASE FCT POLICE BUST CAR THEFT SYNDICATE, RECOVER TWO STOLEN VEHICLES, AND ARREST THREE SUSPECTS. …as suspects confess to refurbishing and reselling stolen vehicles as newer models On April 11, 2025, following a distress call received by Durumi Division regarding the theft of a Toyota Corolla, 2005 model, gold in colour, with registration number KUJ 208 DA, stolen from the owner’s residence, operatives of the Division immediately swung into action. The vehicle was tracked to a workshop in Durumi, where it was discovered undergoing illegal refurbishment. The colour was being altered in an attempt to evade detection and facilitate a quick resale. A further search of the premises led to the recovery of another suspected stolen vehicle—a red Toyota Corolla with registration number GWA 844 CK—previously reported stolen from a residence in Jikwoyi. INEC set for Sokoto rerun election

The Independent National Electoral Commission, Sokoto State office has expressed its readiness for rancour-free re-run elections in 46 polling units within the state.

Following the appeal court nullification of some of the elections in the state, the INEC subsequently fixed February 3rd for the re-run according to judicial pronouncement across the country.

A statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday by the Public Affairs Officer, INEC office in Sokoto, Muhammad Hassan Ka’oje, said the Court ordered re-run elections in the 46 polling units across Yabo/Shagari federal constituency, Bodinga North and Tambuwal West state constituencies of the state.

While assuring electorates in the affected polling units of adequate preparation to ensure everyone exercises their franchise, the statement noted that only voters with permanent voter cards that are registered in the affected polling units are qualified to vote in the election.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
