 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country. INEC set for Sokoto rerun election

The Independent National Electoral Commission, Sokoto State office has expressed its readiness for rancour-free re-run elections in 46 polling units within the state.

Following the appeal court nullification of some of the elections in the state, the INEC subsequently fixed February 3rd for the re-run according to judicial pronouncement across the country.

A statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday by the Public Affairs Officer, INEC office in Sokoto, Muhammad Hassan Ka’oje, said the Court ordered re-run elections in the 46 polling units across Yabo/Shagari federal constituency, Bodinga North and Tambuwal West state constituencies of the state.

While assuring electorates in the affected polling units of adequate preparation to ensure everyone exercises their franchise, the statement noted that only voters with permanent voter cards that are registered in the affected polling units are qualified to vote in the election.
