 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Kano School Of Health Introduces Registration Fee Waiver For Brilliant Students 


The provost Kano state school of health sciences and technology (School of hygiene),  Malam Jamilu Shu'aibu Muhammad, says the institute has introduced scholarship opportunities for brilliant students. 


Jamilu made the disclosure during an exclusive interview with Radio Nigeria in Kano.


According to him, brilliant students who emerge over all in their  respective departments enjoy a waiver on registration fees. 


He said, both academic and non academic staff of the school, are working ascidiously to inculcate good moral values, sound and qualitative education to students. 


The provost maintained that, all the courses offered by the institute are fully accredited, and the proposal for the introduction of two new courses, is on the pipeline in line with the state government's dedication to promoting education. 


Jamilu maintained that, from his  assumption as the provost in June 2023 office, the school has witnessed transformation in terms of structures and renovations, to achieve a conducive learning environment for students and teachers.


"I believe even passers by have noticed the transformation of the college within a short period of time, and we shall continue to do more"


The provost  pointed out that, the college offers academic and professional courses, covering range of courses on health, nutrition,environment among others.


"We do not train only Kano indigenes but rather students from all the 6 geopolitical zones in the country" 


He highlighted that, to aling  with the present day  nomenclature , the Kano school of hygiene has scrapped some courses and introduced new ones, regulate number of intakes and equiped laboratories to achieve the desired objectives. 


Jamilu hinted that, the management had submitted proposals, that would develop the college in various aspects,and are optimistic that the government would grant their wish.


"In no time the public would feel the impact of graduants of the college"


He commended the state government under the leadership of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his tireless efforts in transforming the state ,and the commissioner for health Dr.Abubakar Labaran Yusuf for his leadership style and guidance. 


Radio Nigeria reports that, Kano state college of health sciences and technology, formerly known as school of hygiene  is one of the oldest Health Institution in the Country, established in 1932 by the Colonial Masters, under the governing body known as the Royal Society of Health (RSH) London.
