OVER 25 MILLION PHONES STOLEN IN ONE YEAR- FG. (PHOTO).

 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. KDSG Swears-In New Grand Khadi Of Sharia Court Of Appeal 


Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has sworn in Mohammed Aminu Danjuma as the new Grand Khadi of Kaduna State Sharia Court of Appeal.


At the ceremony at government House Kaduna, Governor Uba Sani urged the new grand khadi to discharge his constitutional mandate in accordance  with the law and without fear or favour.


He commended the National Judiciary Council for recommending highly experience legal practitioner and distinguished scholar of Islamic law for the appointment as the grand khadi.


Malam Uba Sani expressed confidence that the new grand khadi Mohammed Aminu would reposition the sharia court of appeal, saying that his government would continue to give the judiciary  the support it need to perform optimally and ensure access to justice for the citizens.


Governor sani also stated that, to serve people of the state better and advance the social justice, there must be synergy between the executive and judiciary.


He urged the new khadi to work assiduously to strengthen the discipline of the staff of the sharia court of the appeal and in particular that of lower court who are the closest judges to the masses.


He maintained that, There have been a lot of complains from the grassroot about the untold  activities of lower court judges, described the action as unacceptable.


"The state government will strengthen it's cooperation and partnership with anti corruption agencies to effectively fight corruption in the judiciary and the civil service in general"


Interview with Newmen, the new Grand Khadi Mohammed Aminu Danjuma pledged to work assiduously to deliver on the mandate given to him.
