 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity. Kwara Governor Salutes Gallant Security Officers at Armed Forces Remembrance Day

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has urged Nigerians to unite and give their support to  members of the armed forces in their task of ensuring safety and security across the country.

Governor AbdulRazq made the call while speaking at an event to celebrate the 2024 Armed forces Remembrance Day in Ilorin.

He commended the effort of the 
fallen and serving men of the Armed Forces for their tremendous services to the nation.

AbdulRazq said the Armed Forces should be appreciated  for the sacrifices they have rendered .

He thanked the security agencies for their excellent roles in special operations in some parts of the state. 

The governor also appreciated their families for their tremendous roles and contribution to peace building.

He assured them of the commitment of his administration to support the families of the fallen heroes and those alive.
