  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed a viral claim circulating on social media about the introduction of new ₦5,000 and ₦10,000 banknotes, labeling it as fake news. The claim, which included fabricated images of the supposed new denominations featuring Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, falsely stated that the new notes would enter circulation from May 1, 2025. In a statement on its verified Facebook account, the CBN clarified that the content is not from the bank and directed the public to its official website, (www.cbn.gov.ng), for authentic information. The bank warned against spreading misinformation regarding monetary policies and urged Nigerians to rely only on official statements from its verified channels. The CBN reaffirmed that any major policy decision, including the introduction of new banknotes, would be announced through its official platforms. Kwara: NYSC conducts free Medical services for rural dwellers

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kwara state has conducted free medical outreach for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) in Idofian community in Ifelodun local government area of the state.

Declaring the programme open, the NYSC state coordinator, Mr. Onifade Joshua, said the programme was designed by the scheme for rural dwellers to have access to free medical care.

 According to him the free medical care is part of the scheme's contribution to national development and service to humanity.

Mr Joshua enjoined members of the community to take advantage of the programme to advance their medical status.
   
Also speaking, the Oludofian of Idofian, Oba Muhammad Ademola, represented by , Alhaji Balogun Disu, appreciated the kind gesture extended to their community by the NYSC .

He encouraged all residents of the community to cooperate with the corps medical personnel and make use of medications administered as instructed.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
