 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Lagos Residents Hand Over Imam, Four Others Caught With Human S^kull To Nigerian Police

Residents of Adamo area of Ikorodu, Lagos State have handed over a popular Chief Imam in the community identified only as Babalola and four of his men to the police after they were allegedly caught with a human skull and other parts of a human body.

A resident and eyewitness who confirmed this to SaharaReporters on Friday said that one of the Islamic clerics was caught with the human skull and he confessed that he was working for his principal, Imam Babalola.

The resident added that the suspects were detained by the anti-kidnapping and cultist Police Unit at Araro Adamo of Lagos State on Thursday.

“I have known the Imam for more than 5 years and this is a man the whole community is standing behind to pray, someone that most of us are looking up to,” the source told SaharaReporters.

“People caught of his men with the head and some human parts, he confessed that he was holding them for the Imam. This was when the people stormed the Imam house and arrested him together with four of his men,” the source added.

SaharaReporters had recently reported how the Ogun Police Command arrested a man, Kehinde Oladimeji, and his wife, Adejumoke Raji, over alleged possession of fresh human parts.

The suspects were arrested following a report lodged at Kemta Divisional Headquarters by one Chief Moshood Ogunwolu, the Baale of Leme community.

Ogunwolu had told the police that a certain Pastor Adisa Olarewaju, who is a co-tenant with the suspects, informed him that offensive odour was coming out of the suspects' room.
