Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive. MAN ARRESTED ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED RAPE OF AN X-RAY TECH AT ST. MARY'S HOSPITAL IN DECATUR, ILLINOIS. (PHOTO).

Man arrested for attempted rape of an x-ray tech at St. Mary's hospital in Decatur, Illinois. 


22-year-old, Victor Nunnery, has been denied pre-trial release in relation to a January 6th incident.


On that day in January, Nunnery was treated at St. Mary's in Decatur for shoulder pain. Nunnery came into contact with the victim when he was sent for x-rays.


According to the technologist when she was done with his x-ray she was cleaning the equipment with her back to him. Nunnery suddenly grabbed her by the shoulders and slammed her into a wall. She fell to the ground and the two began struggling, with Nunnery repeatedly trying to pull her pants down. 


Fortunately a staff member that was walking by, heard screams and the sound of the shuffle. She ran into the room. She witnessed that the victim was exposed from the waist down and Nunnery was laying over her with his pants down.


Due to the distraction, the victim was able to flee the room and security arrived. 


According to security reports Nunnery tried to claim it was consensual, but then later asked how long he would get for a rape charge. He later told the police he was aroused by her, "touching his shoulders."
