 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Man raises alarm over suspected ‘kidnapping’ after sighting a lady struggling to get out of a car in Lagos




One Bishop Khale has raised alarm over a suspected kidnap of an unknown woman on New Year Day in Victoria Island, Lagos. 

He posted videos he filmed on X two hours ago, alleging that the woman was struggling to get out of a black pathfinder car on Ahmadu Bello Way. 

“Happening now on New year’s Day. A lady was struggling to get out of this Black pathfinder on Ahmadu Bello way. Lagos. I believe she’s been kidnapped I got the face of the driver & the plates,” he wrote. 

“For the record : I raised the alarm. Called on area boys, but most of them hesitated. The driver got back in the car & drove off. I followed the car around V.I, hoping I’d see a police man to report to, but none was on the route they followed. They later started driving back Towards 3rd mainland bridge

“I even flagged down cars behind me & kept screaming that someone is being kidnapped. Everyone overtook me, I already followed them around horning for some minutes before they parked. That’s when I remembered to take a video.”
