 CSO/MEDIA REVIEW: HEALTH MINISTER PATE SCORES FG HIGH  ON HEALTH SECTOR REFORMS The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, says civil society organisations play a critical role in strengthening Nigeria’s health system by providing feedback, identifying gaps and helping government translate policies into programmes that improve lives.  NEC TO CONDUCTS RE RUN ELECTION ELECTION INTO THE NIGER STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY IN 32 POLING UNITS OF LAVUN CONSTITUENCY. 

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC says arrangements have reached an advance stage for the conduct of re run election in thirty two poling units of Lavun constituency for the Niger state House of Assembly slated for this Saturday.


INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in charge of Niger state Alh Ahmed Yusha'u Garki stated this at a stakeholders meeting in Minna on the Lavun re run election. 

  

Alh Ahmed Yusha'u Garki said already all non sensitive electoral materials have been deployed to Lavun Local Government Area in readiness for the conduct of a peaceful and acceptable re run election for the Niger state House of Assembly.


According to him candidates for twelve political parties are expected to participate in the re run election which he said the electorates in that area have demonstrated their resolve to actively partake in the forthcoming election.


He said  this is because out of the nineteen thousand one hundred and twenty one Permanent Voters Card from that poling units eighteen thousand eight hundred and seventy seven of them have been collected.


Alh Ahmed Yusha'u Garki further explained that one hundred and fifty seven adhoc staff have been trained to manned the exercise stressing that any person that violate the laid down precedure of conducting credible and acceptable election will be made to face the full wrath of the law.


The Resident Electoral Commissioner in charge of Niger state said sensitive materials such as result sheet ballot papers are to be ready before the actual date earmarked for the re run election which is Saturday the third of February this year.


Representatives of the political parties have expressed confidence in the ability of INEC to conduct credible election while security agencies have pleged to provide a level playing field for all political parties to thrive to ensure that their votes count.


It could be recalled that the trabunal ordered for the re run election in thirty two poling units into the Lavun House of Assembly election.
