NSCDC Arrests father for attempting to sell 8 year old son for N20m



The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp, NSCDC has arrested two suspects for allegedly attempting to sell an eight year old child in Abuja.


Parading the suspects, the FCT Commandant of the NSCDC, Olusola Odumosu explained that in an effort to reduce crime to the barest minimum in the FCT, the NSCDC, FCT command through its proactive engagement had arrested a father who conspired with another to trade his eight year old son for the sum of N20M.


According to the Commandant, following a tip-off by the intelligence unit of the Corp, the suspect one Mr. Chiana Telpesa and his accomplice, Pius Aondoakaa both of Logo local government area of Benue state were arrested in a garden in Abuja while trying to collect the sum of N20M for the sale of the 8 year old boy, Ushafa Chiana.


"In view of this, the acclaimed father of the boy, Mr. Chiana Telpesa was lured on the 10th January, 2024 by the FCT Intelligence Personnel who posed as a buyer and agreed on the terms to buy and pay the sum of N20M. He was received in a a garden with his son by the undercover personnel who posed as a buyer", the Commandant explained.


Mr. Odumosu further said during investigation the suspects told the undercover personnel that they also have a girl child whom they tagged as "She goat" to sell at the sum of N15M.


NSCDC Commandant stated that the duo have be handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP for further investigation and prosecution.


In an interview with Journalists, the suspected father of the boy, Mr. Chiana Telpesa said he planned to sell the boy in order to use the proceeds and take care of himself and the boy's siblings whom he complained were in abject poverty.


In another development, the NSCDC, FCT command has arrested a 23 years old Yakubu Mati for the vandalism of armoured cable along the Idu Metro railway line in Abuja.


The suspect was caught in possession of a hoe, a saw blade and a lighter which he used in carrying out his criminal activities.
