 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.  NUT CONDOLES NLC AND NULGE OVER THE DEATH OF FORMER NULGE PRESIDENT IN NIGER.



The death of former President Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees NULGE in Niger state Comrade Musa Matane has been described as a great loss to the entire people of the state and Nigeria.


This is inview of his contributions to the growth and development of the union and civil servants in the state during his life time.


Chairman Niger state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT Comrade Adamu Mohammed Akayago stated this in his condolence message in Minna 


The message which was signed and issued to Newsmen in Minna by the state Secretary of  NUT Comrade Labaran Garba on behalf of state Wing Executive Council said the death of Comrade Musa Matane has created a vacuum difficult to fill.


According to Comrade Adamu Mohammed Akayago his death is not only for his family members or NULGE but for the entire members of organised labour in Niger state under the leadership of Comrade Idris Abdulkareem Lafene.


He further explained that his entiring efforts support and encouragement to the struggle for better working condition of members will forever remain fresh in their mind describing his demise as one death too many.


Comrade Adamu Mohammed Akayago however prayed to Allah to forgive him and grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
