 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Over 1400 Widows, Orphans Receives Cash, Gifts In Niger, Kebbi State

A total of one thousand four hundred and thirty five widows orphans and widowers from Niger and Kebbi states have benefitted from the cash and gifts donation of the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese in Niger state to reduce their hardship.

The Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese and Chairman Niger state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN most Reverend Bulus Dauwa Yohanna stated this while addressing Newsmen in Kontagora after presenting the items to beneficiaries

Most Reverend Bulus Yohanna explained that the gesture was to reach to those in need especially the widows orphans and widowers to enhance their living standard in this trying moment.

According to the Cleric there was an increase in the number of people benefitting from the last gesture from a little over one thousand to one thousand four hundred and thirty five in Kontagora Diocese of both perishes in Niger and Kebbi states.

Items distributed to the beneficiaries include noodles seasoning, bags of rice, maize, drinks among others.

In her remarks one of the beneficiaries Madam Godiya Adamu appreciated CAN Chairman Niger state chapter for touching thier lives positively and called on others to emulate the gesture.
