 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. Plateau massacre: Protesting women burn down traditional ruler’s house



Irate women protesting over the fallout of the recent killings in some communities in Plateau State, on Friday, burnt down the residence of the District Head of Bokkos town, Michal Monday Adanchi.

Bakkos town, in Bokkos Local Government Area, is one of the communities where the killings took place.


It was gathered that the district head’s house was razed around 12:30 on Friday.


The women were said to have been angered by the arrest of some members of the community for their alleged involvement in the killings.


An eyewitness told reporters that “the incident began at the police station, where they [the women] expressed their anger over the arrest of some members of the community”.


“After leaving the police station, they proceeded to the house of the traditional ruler, protesting that he was a sellout. A few minutes after reaching the house, they set it ablaze,” the eyewitness added.


However, the violent nature of the protest led to the arrival of soldiers who dispersed the protesting women.


The state police command confirmed the arrest of eight people in connection with the attacks.


In attacks on about 23 villages between December 24, 25 and 26, MAGIC FM reports that over 200 people were killed, many others injured and hundreds of houses razed.
