Blaming opposition for hunger is ‘delusion’, Atiku tells Tinubu Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused President Bola Tinubu of blaming the opposition for the country’s economic hardship. He said the President was trying to evade responsibility for his administration’s policies. Tinubu had earlier on Saturday blamed his political opponents for hunger and poverty in the country while speaking at the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna. “I hear my opponent talking about hunger, poverty. Who created it? They did! They created the hunger, they created the poverty. We are trying to eradicate it,” the President said. Plateau massacre: Protesting women burn down traditional ruler’s house



Irate women protesting over the fallout of the recent killings in some communities in Plateau State, on Friday, burnt down the residence of the District Head of Bokkos town, Michal Monday Adanchi.

Bakkos town, in Bokkos Local Government Area, is one of the communities where the killings took place.


It was gathered that the district head’s house was razed around 12:30 on Friday.


The women were said to have been angered by the arrest of some members of the community for their alleged involvement in the killings.


An eyewitness told reporters that “the incident began at the police station, where they [the women] expressed their anger over the arrest of some members of the community”.


“After leaving the police station, they proceeded to the house of the traditional ruler, protesting that he was a sellout. A few minutes after reaching the house, they set it ablaze,” the eyewitness added.


However, the violent nature of the protest led to the arrival of soldiers who dispersed the protesting women.


The state police command confirmed the arrest of eight people in connection with the attacks.


In attacks on about 23 villages between December 24, 25 and 26, MAGIC FM reports that over 200 people were killed, many others injured and hundreds of houses razed.
