 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Registratoon fees: Borno Govt releases over N55M for 153 medical students

                    

The Borno State government has released the sum of 55,968,000 naira for the payment of registration fees for one hundred and fifty three medical students. 

At a media briefing in Maiduguri, Executive Secretary state Scholarship Board, Malam Bala Isa said the benefiting students are indigenes of the state admitted into Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare, Bauchi state. 

According to him, the students will offer eleven different degree courses including medicine, dentistry, radiography, nursing, environmental health among other courses. 

" the scholarship programme is line with the 25-year Development plan of Governor Zulum’s administration to train more health professionals in order to improve healthcare services especially at the rural areas " Isa said.

The Executive Secretary remarked that the state government will sustain the payment upto the end of their studies. 

He added that the Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation adviced the students to pay attention to their studies to justify the opportunity given to them.

The Executive Secretary appreciate the Governor Babagana Zulum for his support to board which has greatly ameliorate the hardship faced by parents and guardians towards pursuing the education of their children.
