 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.  AFCON: FG makes promise to Super Eagles


The Federal Government has promised to reward the Super Eagles for their commitment and dedication in reaching the final of the ongoing African Cup of the Nations  in Cote D’Ivoire.

Vice President Kashim Shettima made the promise on behalf of the Federal Government when met with the Super Eagles following their win over the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.

The Super Eagles made this known  this in a statement shared on their official X handle early Thursday.

” “The Federal Government has promised to reward the Super Eagles for their commitment and dedication in reaching the final of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivore.

“Vice President Kashim Shettima told the players and their officials in the dressing room, following their hard-fought victory over South Africa in the semi finals on Wednesday, that the government and people of Nigeria are proud of their accomplishment.

“The VP was in company with Governors Dapo Abiodun (Ogun) and Duoye Diri (Bayelsa), Minister for Youths, Dr. Jamila Ibrahim as well as oil mogul, Wale Tinubu, FIFA Council member, Amaju Pinnick, and NFF President, Ibrahim Musa Gusau,” the statement said.

The Super Eagles qualified for  the  AFCON final on Wednesday after beating the Bafana Bafana  of South Africa 4-2 on penalties.
