 RE: MISLEADING CLAIMS REGARDING EXTORTION OF MOTORISTS BY LAGOS STATE TASKFORCE – YET-TO-BE-IDENTIFIED SECURITY OPERATIVES: ANOTHER CASE OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY The Lagos State Taskforce wishes to address a misleading narrative circulating on social media, particularly in a viral video shared by protesters and concerned groups who recently demonstrated at the Lagos State House of Assembly. The protest was in response to the alleged extortion of motorists by security operatives, yet to be identified, who are not officials of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit. We categorically state that the Lagos State Taskforce had no involvement in the said incident.  Borno State: 100,000 Families To Benefit From Food Palliatives


The Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has approved the distribution of food palliatives to over 100,000 vulnerable families to cushion the impact food inflation. 


Governor Zulum gave the approval during a meeting with traditional rulers, elders, community leaders and other stakeholders at Government House,  Maiduguri .


According to him, the beneficiaries would be selected from the twenty seven wards of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC) and Jere Local Government Area.


Zulum reiterated his administration's commitment to ensuring the welfare of Borno citizens, particularly to families struggling to access basic necessities of life, in the face of rising food prices and economic challenges.


                         “I have approved the distribution of palliative to 100,000 families in MMC and Jere Local Government Area to ease the hardship faced by our people in the wake of the rising cost of food and other essential goods,” Zulum said.


He announced that the distribution would commence in the coming days with Shehuri North, South, Feezan, Hausari, Gamboru and Mafoni wards.


Zulum assured that the distribution will be conducted in a transparent and accountable manner to ensure that the assistance reaches the targeted people. 


Similarly, Governor Babagana Zulum has also directed the distribution of the food palliative in seven Local Government Areas in the southern part of the state.


The local governments are Biu, Hawul, Shani, Kwaya Kusar, Askira-Uba, Chibok and Bayo.


He noted that his administration has consistently been distributing cash and food items in areas affected by Boko Haram insurgency to enhance their livelihood and ward-off vulnerable residents from joining the ranks of insurgents.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
