Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive.  Gunmen assassinate Plateau APC spokesperson, Namang


The State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau state, Hon. Sylvanus Namang, has been assassinated.

He was killed in Pankshin town in Pankshin local government area of the state.

The incident took place on Saturday, February 17.

It was gathered that Namang was gunned down by yet to be identified gunmen at a relaxation spot known as sunny Best joint in Pankshin town.

The source confirmed that Namang left Jos for Pankshin to attend a funeral programme and was relaxing with others persons when the gunmen killed him and the owner of the joint, sunny Okonkwo. 

However, there has been no official statement from the party or family members as at the time of filling this report. 

The chairman of the party in the state, Rufus Bature, who spoke to The Nation on phone, confirmed the sad news, that  Namang was killed last night in Pankshin.

Bature said: “He was killed in Pankshin last night, saying, the party would soon issue a statement,. We want the family settle down.

Sylvanus Namang was one time director  of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) where he  served as General Manager of Lafia FM Radio for four years before he became the spokesman of the APC in the state. 

He also worked with the late Deputy Senate President Senator Ibrahim Mantu as his Chief Press Secretary
