 Amnesty International Condemns NBC Ban on Eedris Abdulkareem’s Song Amnesty International Nigeria has criticized the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) for banning Eedris Abdulkareem’s song “Tell Your Papa”, calling it a violation of free speech and access to information. In a statement via Facebook, Amnesty described the ban—which labels the song “Not To Be Broadcast” due to its criticism of government—as an abuse of power. The group urged President Bola Tinubu to order an immediate reversal, stressing that dissent is not grounds for censorship. Amnesty also faulted NBC’s use of the Broadcasting Code, calling it flawed and incompatible with Nigeria’s international obligations. The group warned that such actions threaten media freedom, silence artists, and stifle creative expression. The ban has also drawn backlash from SERAP, which issued a 48-hour ultimatum for its reversal.

In 17 years I was DETAINED 8 times at various POLICE STATIONS in Abuja. In 17 years I was once detained at KUJE PRISON for 43 days. I went through hell in my country not because I am a CRIMINAL but because I say NO to CORRUPTION. Despite JUICY offers to fight OUTSIDE of Nig I NEVER GAVE UP ON MY DREAM to fight in Nig & I NEVER GAVE UP on Nig.  Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
