SANWO-OLU IN LONDON SEEKS FOREIGN INVESTMENTS, PARTNERSHIPS   •Governor charges Commonwealth states to bring capital, technology, expertise to Lagos The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday charged the Commonwealth’s 56 member states to invest in Africa, particularly Lagos, by bringing their capital, technology and other expertise, promising that they will find not just market and opportunity but partner and relationship.   He said the Commonwealth's greatest advantage is not simply its shared language, shared laws or shared history but its people, noting that nowhere is that advantage more vivid, dynamic or consequential than in Africa.   Speaking as a Keynote Speaker at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Trade and Investment Summit held at Mansion House, London, on Monday, Governor Sanwo-Olu said Lagos is ready for partnerships and relationships with global investors.   The theme of the opening session is “The Commonwealth's Advantage". ...

 Inferno Kills 4 Year Old Boy In Kano


The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of a four year-old boy, Abubakar Sani at Yakasai Layin Inuwa mai mai, Kano Municipal local government area (KMC).


The Public Relations Officer of the service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi made the disclosure in Kano.


Saminu explained that, the agency  received a distress call from their staff Habibi Adamu about a fire outbreak at Yakasai.


 He pointed out that,a rescue team was  immediately mobilized from from  Central and Audu Bako Secretariat fire station.


The public relations officer pointed out that, the building  of one floor of about 40 by 30 ft used as dwelling house, one room from the upper floor was completely razed  by the inferno, while one living room was slightly burnt.


He said,the minor  Abubakar  was trapped in the room engulfed by fire  and all efforts to save him before the arrival of fire fighters proved abortive.


Saminu maintained that, the victim was rescued unconscious and conveyed  to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, where the doctor on duty confirmed him dead


The Public Relations Officer hinted that, the victim was handed over to his father, Sani Hussaini for burial according to Islamic rites.


He said the cause of the fire was as a result of the victim playing with matches inside a room.


Saminu urged parents to desist from exposing their children to danger by leaving them unttended and keeping dangerous items away from their reach.
